About the Walk In Counseling
Center
WICC was founded in 1969 to
provide free, easily accessible counseling services, on a walk-in basis
for anyone in need of help. Over the years the services have expanded
to include training for mental health professionals and WICC is now an
internationally recognized resource on issues of professional conduct.
Donations
& Funding
The center does not have public funding and does not charge fees for counseling.
It depends on donations from clients, businesses, individuals, corporations,
and foundations, as well as fees from some consultation and training activities.
Staff
WICC has four regular paid staff and one special consultant::
| Gary
Schoener
Executive Director |
A licensed psychologist,
Gary has consulted in more than 3,000 cases of professional misconduct
and has done training throughout the United States and Canada and
elsewhere in the world. He also maintains a part-time practice in
forensic psychology under the name Gary R. Schoener

| Jim Ayers
Clinic Director |
A licensed psychologist, Jim
has worked with helping professionals in both health care and corporate
settings. He maintains a part-time private practice, in addition
to his work at WICC, and continues to be active as a therapist
and also in doing psychological evaluations, including some of persons
with substance abuse disorders at Eden House..

| Martha Hughes
Clinic and Administrative Coordinator |
Martha is a graduate
of the University of Minnesota and has been with WICC since 1974.
In her role as administrative coordinator she wears many hats -
coordinator of volunteer programming, fund raising, and financial
administration. In addition, she is the overseer of the general
health and well-being of our counseling clinic, building and staff.

| Pang Chang |
In charge of the general operation
of WICC. Her jobs range from greeting visitors and answering phones
to coordinating outreach efforts, data management and WICC's library.
She is the person who most likely will answer the phone during the
week.

| Scott Bartell |
Special ConsultantA licensed independent
clinical social worker, Scott was formerly WICC's Coordinator of
Consultation & Training. He serves as a special consultant
at present on a part-time basis. He maintains a private psychotherapy
practice specializing in sexual and gender issues, trauma response,
clinical hypnosis, and general problems with anxiety, depression,
and relationships.
