- Review and revise qualifications for volunteer counselors and supervisors.
- Review, clarify and communicate client care standards.
- Increase the engagement and active support of Walk-In volunteers.
- Systematize the referral system/process from county and social services
agencies.
Serve the changing needs of the social services
and behavioral health professions effectively.
- Increase the number of
organizations and individuals benefiting from Walk-In’s consulting
and training services.
- Develop new mission-consistent products and services for the professions
and agencies/organizations where they work.
- Increase the number of training opportunities for Walk-In volunteers
(e.g., symposiums, lectures).
Enhance governance.
- Review and refine roles and responsibilities of board members.
- Recruit additional board members; diversify the board.
- Strengthen board and committee operations.
- Enhance board members’ ability
to raise funds.
- Review and update policies.
Strengthen infrastructure.
- Create a human resources model to support expanded services and growth.
- Develop in-house fundraising expertise.
- Articulate a succession plan.
- Plan and complete facilities upgrades.
- Evaluate/improve administrative, financial, technology and telecommunications
systems and capabilities.
Generate additional revenue to support Walk-In’s
mission.
- Develop a funding sustainability plan, including a deferred giving
program.
- Increase individual gifts.
- Increase grants from corporations and foundations.
- Increase the sales of consulting and training services.
- Explore a fee-for-service structure for clients; implement recommendations.
Increase the understanding of Walk-In’s
value among larger numbers of prospective donors, opinion leaders,
social services and behavioral health professionals and decision
makers.
- Increase positive visibility for Walk-In through the media.
- Communicate more effectively and regularly with donors, volunteers,
prospective donors and volunteers, clients and the professional community.
- Reach out, build and sustain relationships with targeted neighborhood
and community organizations.
- Host events at Walk-In to introduce larger numbers of people to the
organization.
- Celebrate Walk-In’s 40th anniversary
and other important events.
- Host an annual symposium for volunteers and mental health professionals.
- Publish and distribute an annual report and appropriate collateral
materials.
- Upgrade the website.
