Counselors
Counseling is provided by mental health professionals who volunteer their time. They include: psychologists, clinical social workers, psychiatric nurses, and advanced graduate students.

First Visit
No appointment is necessary during counseling hours. Just come to the reception desk and ask to speak to a counselor. There may be a short wait. It is best to arrive near the start of the counseling hours. Counseling sessions are held in private rooms and usually last about an hour.

Ongoing Counseling
WICC provides short-term counseling. Generally clients see their counselor for fewer than 10 sessions. When longer term counseling seems advisable or other services are needed, a referral is made.

Child Care
Although WICC does not provide child care, receptionists can generally keep an eye on children in the waiting room. Some toys are available.

Location
WICC is located in a house at 2421 Chicago Avenue S., Minneapolis. This is halfway between Franklin Ave. and Lake St. on Chicago Ave. There is good bus service on Chicago Avenue and on nearby streets. (See Poster for a map)

About WICC
WICC is a private, non-profit service, open since 1969. Financial support is provided by foundation, business and personal donations. WICC has a small purchase of service agreement with Hennepin County which covers some services. Contributions from clients are appreciated. They are important to keep WICC's services available.

Equal Opportunity
WICC services are open to everyone. We welcome all people regardless of age, ethnic background, race, marital status, sexual/affectional preference or disability.
