Walk-In Trainings on Web

Walk-In has sponsored several terrific trainings for our volunteers over the last year.

  • The First Session:  Critical things to know and do if you only have one chance with Jim Ayers, Walk-In Clinic Director
  • Brief Treatment:    Critical things to know and do if you only have a few sessions with Ron Rooney, Professor of Social Work, University of Minnesota.
  • Bad and Good Couples Therapy: What They Don't Teach You in Graduate School with Bill Doherty, Professor of Family Social   Science, University of  Minnesota

We’ve now found a web site (vimeo.com) that will host the videos of these trainings so our volunteers can access them when they haven’t been able to attend.  Former volunteers are welcome to access this site as well.  Please contact Jim Ayers at jayers@walkin.org .

In the future:

  • Ethical and boundary issues in crisis counseling with Gary Schoener
  • Termination:  The ending (of counseling) actually starts in the first session
  • Adolescent brains:  No wonder 25 year-olds act like teenagers sometimes
  • Sexual assault:  The powerful impact of being or loving a victim/survivor
