Social Work
WICC has traditionally offered field placement and internship opportunities
for second year MSW students. Internship responsibilities have included
membership on a clinical team, a caseload of individual clients as well
as presentations made as part of the consultation and training program.
Social work interns are supervised by a LICSW as well a licensed psychologist.
However, at present WICC does not have a field instructor on the regular
staff so that such a position may not be possible. Any questions
should be directed to Jim Ayers, Ph.D., at the link below.
Psychology
The internship provides clinical training in community mental health approaches
as applied to underserved, disenfranchised populations. Interns will gain
expertise in providing a broad range of psychological services including
* Outpatient crisis intervention
* Psychological evaluation
* Short and long-term psychotherapy
* Community outreach
* Advocacy
The internship is not APA-approved and there is no stipend. The internship
generally begins in September ends the following August, but other arrangements
may be possible.
