Seeking talented, motivated mental health professionals
Walk-In relies on the expertise and generosity of its 125+ clinical volunteers to deliver high quality counseling to people with urgent needs. In addition, paraprofessional volunteer receptionists coordinate services during clinic hours. The strength of our model is the passion volunteers have for the work and for the clients. More
Walk-In is recruiting new volunteer mental health professionals every day.
Master and above psychologists, clinical social workers, mental health counselors, psychiatric nurses, psychiatrists and advanced graduate students are eligible to work as Walk-In counselors. We need new volunteers on an ongoing basis to meet the ever-increasing demand for help.
- Provide mental health counseling services through our clinics
- Supervise a team of counselors
- Consult by phone with counselors regarding their ongoing cases
- Become a supervisor for graduate students doing field placements in social work or psychology or who need licensure supervision.
- Provide training in a unique area of expertise
For example, expansion of our Family Tree Clinic site in St. Paul will benefit from people with knowledge, experience or desire to learn about reproductive health issues and about sexual violence relative to both survivor and perpetrator.
Our team model: At the main clinic volunteers work in teams of six: four counselors, a supervisor and a receptionist. Off-site locations in St. Paul are staffed by teams of two to three. Some volunteers commit to a weekly schedule. Others work certain hours each month and some are substitutes. Although Walk-In emphasizes the importance of continuity in the volunteer force, different time commitment options are available. More
